Disturbing Solar Energy News
May 7, 2008 by Christiane
I came across a disturbing news item today about solar energy. It talks about the (non)extension of the solar investment tax credit (scroll down the page) (ITC), which was part of the Iraq War Supplemental legislation. The house speaker’s office had indicated in the past that the ITC extension would be part of the Iraq War Supplemental legislation.
Apparently, our dear politicians are planning to drop the ITC from the legislation, while they seem to be willing to spend $110 billion on “energy security” in Iraq. This is insane! And yet it is not surprising, considering that Bush’s response to the high fuel prices is to dig for oil in Alaska.
Brad Collins of the American Solar Energy Coalition is asking us to call our representatives and put the pressure on. Call your representatives and insist that the solar ITC must be extended!
The extension of the ITC will not only help you, the home owners, install solar energy systems, it will also maintain and create thousands of new jobs.
